Thanksgiving Hair Clippie Craft Tutorial
Hi All,
I've been wanting to do a tutorial for some time in order to add something extra to my website content. It's been suggested by my designer Sublime Artistry, it's been requested by customers and, darn it, I've wanted to do one because they're fun!
I've made a clippie holder before, but this particular holder is more whimsical and seasonal. It also works as a keepsake handprint! Have fun making the easy turkey craft and let your little one decorate the plate using hair accessories! Hang it on, or near, the front door for the not-so-usual Thanksgiving decor and make grabbing a clippie on your way out an absolute snap.
If you send me a picture of your craft, I will send you a FREE CLIPPIE! Have fun - we did :)
Supplies
- Paper Plates
- Construction Paper
- Paint and paintbrushes
- Scissors
- Glue
- A Willing Kid's Hand
- Googly Eyes (optional)

Step One - Paint your plate and let it dry.

Step Two - While the paint is drying, cut 1" squares from the construction paper.

Step Three - After the paint is dry, apply a little glue around the edge and apply the squares thenLET DRY.

Step Four - Grab a small child and paint their hand. I chose brown for the palm (turkey body) and thumb (turkey neck and head). Choose other colors for the fingers (turkey feathers). Press firmly onto the plate. I did a test on a white plate and found that I needed to apply MORE paint to the hand than I originally thought I would need. Also, the print turned out better if I did the maneuvering and pressing. I know... no fun, Mom!

Step Five - Immediately wash child's hand (unless you don't mind multi-colored handprints decorating more than your plate!)
Step Six - Paint the beak and the red thing that hangs under it. I made mine a kind of peanut shape. Apply a googly eye or a dot of black paint for the eye.

Step Seven - after it has fully dried, attach clippies around the outside and hang up! You are done... now send me a picture of your turkey clippie holder - I can't wait to see them!
Riley is the best helper!
