My Daughter Won't Wear Clippies!

What is up with that?!

So, I was thinking about writing a new blog and really couldn’t find a topic that I felt like writing about. Then I took a call from my good friend, Kristen. She and I talked about various things and eventually got on the topic of our daughters – she has two, I have one. All three of them are tomboys; definitely NOT girlie girls. As I started to complain, we started to laugh and we both felt better because we weren’t the only mothers with ragamuffins. How embarrassing it is to be in public, as though somehow I have failed as a mother since I can’t even get my daughter to tame her wild hair.

I was complaining about the fact that my daughter Marin won’t even let us brush her hair. And her hair is SO beautiful. Long and a beautiful warm blond color and when it is brushed it looks very nice. But most of the time (okay, ALL of the time) it looks like a tangled mess. She is constantly brushing it out of her face, but usually won’t let me put it in a ponytail! So it gets dipped in her morning cereal or dragged through syrup, collects star stickers and tape, and if we’ve been to the beach her scalp has a covering of sand.

If it was up to me, I would brush it (quickly) each morning and put it in a braid or ponytail to avoid most of this mess… but even the smallest amount of hair care sends her into a screaming fit. My next thought was to just cut it shorter but DAD had strong feelings against that option. So I gave up. Take the path of least resistance, at this point. I’ve lost the battle, but hopefully not the war – LOL!

What I’m most frustrated about is… I SELL HAIR ACCESSORIES! Hellooooo! My star advertiser won’t even let me do her hair up and accessorize with my latest creation! Oh for pete’s sake…. I try not to think about it.

She definitely has a style that is all her own. She loves the dirt, she loves playing with the boys (and with girls who like to play with the boys), and she likes to wrestle. She will wear a princess dress as long as I let her wear it while she rides her brothers Big Wheel… you get the idea. I love my daughter so much it hurts sometimes. So here are a few pictures of her that totally cracked me up. You go girl!

Here I am again! Your mother was a tomboy, and proud of it! When it came to sawing wood, I beat all the boys in the neighborhood hands down. I could stick on a bucking horse and they were sailing over the head. I won the contest for the most sit ups in 3 minutes, and when I was really little all I wanted for Christmas was a DUMP TRUCK!

Bye the bye, you were also a tomboy! Apple didn’t fall from the tree Julie!

So freakin adorable! I love her! I say, chop off the hair for now, it’ll grow back. DC, she’ll still be gorgeous!

Miss you guys
