Product Testing
I would never call myself creative. Never. This irritates my husband – he thinks I AM creative. I love hearing it from him because he is in the design field and he should know. But I should mention it’s the automotive design field and working on clay models a much different arena than children’s accessories, but who cares, right?
As this clippie business has blossomed, I am more open to accepting that, in some small ways, I am creative. But recently, I decided to make a clippie that would be truly unique. At least I have never seen one like it. I am totally convinced that – until a couple days ago – they didn’t exist. I am still using a pinch clip, ribbon and Velcro but instead of choosing a coordinating satin flower or button embellishment – I decided to do something REALLY different. (I’m not going to ruin the surprise, but it involved painting).
So I made them. I LOVE them. I feel CREATIVE!
The problem is that I want them ready to be highlighted in my next newsletter due to go out June 1st. The reason that is a problem is because when I make something even slightly new or use a supply I haven’t tried before, I always give it to my daughter first and see how long it takes her to destroy it. It ends up in the wash cycle, in the bathtub and the bottom of my backpacks. I am not particularly careful with them. I really don’t expect it to survive… I just want to know that it will hold up for an acceptable amount of time.
Well, it’ is the third week in May and I don’t really have the time to put it through the wringer (literally!). So I put out an invitation on Facebook and a Yahoo group I belong to – to see if anyone would help me out with the testing. I sent out 8 testers. I created a Feedback Form on my website so they could easily submit to me their thoughts, comments and suggestions. And I’m just waiting to hear back from them. I’m ready to accept that they may not be liked. I can handle it. I hope :)
I’ll keep you posted!
Julie
